Jean Claude spends part of each year in the village of La Clisse on the west coast of France, equidistant from Cognac, Bordeaux and La Rochelle. He lives in the house in which he grew up, which was built from the local stone. Jean Claude added the studio recently - the part on the far right - using stones gathered from surrounding fields. |

The main floor is for display, while the second floor is a working studio. As he prefers painting on-site, the studio is used mainly for finishing large paintings or for when he is driven in by the rain. Here he is contemplating his model for a painting of the farmers' market in the neighbouring town of Saintes. This painting was commissioned for a hotel in Savannah, Georgia. |
| To see the lavender in Provence at the peak of its colour, one has to go there is early July. This field is located between the hill towns of Sault and Aurel, just north of the Luberon, and it has drawn him here for a second time. The evening shadows make dark furrows in the field, the bees are buzzing loudly and the scent is almost overpowering. Painting from morning to night, he returns home to the Charente Maritime when the truck can't hold any more. |
